Golden Gate Bridge at Fort Baker - The photo was taken in mid May, 2009, from the pier at Fort Baker. Fort Baker is a converted Army installation on the north end of the Golden Gate Bridge. Fort Baker is now home to the Bay Area Discovery Museum. I visited the museum with my daughter, granddaughter and newly born grandson. There are lots of hands-on things for young kids to do. Click here to fly to the museum using Google Earth. |

Yosemite - Half Dome - I
had a chance to visit
Yosemite
National Park in early May 2009. On the way to the park I
stopped at the
Yosemite Sierra Visitor Information Center in Oakhurst, CA.
They were very helpful and suggested that I stop at Glacier
Point while in the park. A great recommendation. The views from
Glacier Point are spectacular. The point is 3400 feet above the
valley. Click
here to fly to Glacier Point using Google Earth. I took almost 100 photos of the park. I have included a few here. Half Dome is the most spectacular feature in the near landscape. |

Mount Rushmore - Keystone, South Dakota - Mount Rushmore memorializes the birth, growth, preservation and development of the United States of America. Between 1927 and 1941, Gutzon Borglum and 400 workers sculpted the 60-foot busts of Presidents Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt, and Lincoln to represent the first 150 years of American history. It had snowed [in September 2003] the night before I visited causing the sky to be very clear. The most downloaded photo from this site. It has been downloaded over 65,000 times. |

Putting Course, Signature Resorts - Las Vegas - I stayed at the Signature Resorts and RV Park during November 2004. There is a very pretty 9 hole, putting course near the clubhouse. It is a fun course. The residents have a 'tournament' every Friday. Teams are assigned by committee. Usually 2 men and 2 women on each team. I was fortunate, on the only Friday I was able to play, to be on the wining team. We each put in $3 and got back $7. Everyone gets a free beer. |

Bridge over Mill Canal on Little Lehigh River - The Little Lehigh River flows behind Marty and Judy Krasnov's home in Allentown, PA. A mill was established on the river in the late 1700's. A canal was dug beside the river and was used to turn a water wheel at the mill. A bridge, constructed over the canal, remains to this day. I took this picture on a sunny day in late July, 2003, while visiting with the Krasnovs. |

Lake McDonald in Glacier Park, Montana - Lake McDonald is the largest lake in Glacier Park. I took this picture in the later afternoon from Apgar Village on July 7, 2002. People can stay in cottages in the village. Apgar is located near the Western entrance to the park on Going to the Sun road. Going to the Sun road traverses the mountains and the Continental Divide. It offers spectacular views of the valley. Glacier Park consists of more than 1600 square miles of protected lands. The park extends into Alberta, Canada and is called Waterton Park. Over 1 million people visit the park each year. Click here to see other photos of the area. The third most downloaded picture from this site. |

Nemacolin Woodlands Miniature Golf, Farmington, PA - Probably the prettiest, nicest miniature golf course in the country. The course is located at the Nemacolin resort in Southwestern Pennsylvania. The resort features the Mystic Rock course, home of the 84 Lumber Golf Classic. Pro golfer, John Daly is the sponsored tour pro. I visited the area in July 2003. We did not have a chance to play the course because John Daly was conducting an 'outing' the day we had available to play Mystic Rock. |

PGA West - Nicklaus Private - 16th Hole, LaQuinta, CA - Taken February 26, 2006 during the match play club championship [Norris Dancer vs. Bob Helgeson - won by Norris - 2/1]. This short par 5 is surrounded by bunkers on the left approach, on the right, and in the back. The green is very long and narrow, almost 75 yards from front to back. The pin was in the front on this day - easiest location. Both players pared it - missing relatively short putts. The Santa Rosa mountains are shown in the background. |

Overview - During the summers of 1999 thru 2008 I toured the United States and Canada. Along the way I took lots of pictures. I think some are pretty good. And I am using some as my desktop's wallpaper. I thought I would share the pictures. I use 'TopDesk', available from 'SnadBoy', to hide desktop icons. TopDesk hides all icons when the start bar's 'show desktop' icon is clicked. In the spring of 2004 I became a full-time RVer. Click here to see photos of my home.
Equipment - The pictures were taken at high resolution [1280 x 1024 and 1280 x 960] in high color [16 million colors]. I converted most to 256 colors to reduce their size. Until August 2001 I used a Fuji MX-700, 1.5 mega pixel digital camera with a 16 MB smart card which will store 45 high resolution pictures.
In August 2001 I purchased the 'upgrade' camera - Fuji 6800 Zoom. It is a 3.3 mega pixel camera with zoom. It also records video and audio. Full size pictures are recorded at 1280 x 960 - a standard Windows size. I use Corel Photo House and Microsoft Photo Editor to edit the pictures.
In June 2005 I purchased a Fuji A330 which is about the same quality camera as the 6800 and at a lot less cost. I bought a 512 MB Smartcard on eBay for about $50. Total cost under $200. I had paid over $900 for the 6800.
In October 2006 I purchased a Fuji FinePix F20 and a 512 MB mini card for about $250. It is much faster than the A330.
In October 2008 I purchased a Nikon Coolpix S60 from Costco for about $350. It has a touch screen. There are no option buttons. They are all on the touch screen. It came with a 2 GB SanDisk mini card. Click here for more information about the camera. Click here or on the photo of the camera to enlarge it.November 2008 I returned the Nikon Coolpix S60 to Costco. I had lots of Lens Error failures. I don't think the camera is ready for primetime. I will wait till the next generation version comes out. It does take great photos but it is unreliable - too bad. I have gone back to using the Fuji FinePix F20.
November 2008 I purchased a Fuji FinePix F31 with a 1 GB mini card for about $350 on eBay. It is the upgrade to the F20/F30. It has facial recognition. It takes a much better picture than the F20. I talked to a Fuji customer support person who advised me that it is the last camera made by them that allows the battery to be charged in the camera.
Download - You can download any of the photos and use them for your PC's desktop wallpaper. I have resized the pictures to fit various screen resolutions. Click on the appropriate 'nnnnxnnnn' to download the desired photo and resolution. If you need instructions on how to change your desktop wallpaper click here. On January 25, 2003, I added resolution 1280x768 to support wide screen monitors. On December 10, 2003 I removed the 800x600 and 640x480 resolution photos - they were not being downloaded very often and were taking a lot of server disk space.
