20. July 15 for one 8 days in space 95, Lions Campground, Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. Click here to view, at poor resolution, the campground using Google Earth.
July 22. The Lions Campground is on the Red Deer River. On this Sunday there were lots of people floating down the river. This photo shows the river and some of the college buildings across the river. It is suitable as wallpaper. Red Deer River at Lions Campground
Many of the amusement park attractions moved from the Calgary Stampede to the Westerner Days in Red Deer this week. Next they go to Edmonton. One local talented young lady did a great Patsy Cline series of songs. The Ferris wheel was a big draw. Local Talent Ferris Wheel
I played three rounds of golf at Red Deer Golf & Country Club with my friend Rod Stephen and his buddies. My scores were; 93, 93, 90.

The photos: Jack Dzaman, Rod Stephen, John MacBeth; Larry, Ken Taylor, Jim Kozie, Mel Koenig; Ken Taylor, Rod Stephen, Mel Koenig.

Rod Stephen and his lovely wife Sharon live on the Red Deer golf course. They built the subdivision that they now live in. The photos: Rod and Sharon, the duplex - they live in the left portion. Lions Campground is an old park with lots of trees and tight spaces. I could not get TV satellite reception with my roof mounted antenna - too many trees. I used a tripod mounted TV antenna to get DirecTV and the British Open. And I was able to place the HughesNet satellite dish in an open area about 60 feet from the coach. The park only has 30 amp electric service - fortunately it is not too hot - I can get by with one roof top air conditioner. Patriot in the Trees
19. July 14 overnight in space A13 at the Pine Creek RV Campground in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. A very nice park south of downtown Calgary. Unfortunately the park is closing next year - it has been sold to a developer. Click here to view the campground using Google Earth.
July 14. I took the CTrain to the Calgary Stampede. It was a very easy, comfortable ride and only $2.25 each way. There was no one checking to make sure I bought a ticket. It is on the honor system. Quit extraordinary.

More than 1.3 million people are expected to attend the 2007 Stampede. I think they were all there the evening I attended. There are 32 major Carnival rides on the Midway. The Ferris wheel is gigantic. Click here to fly to the Stampede using Google Earth. Click either photo for an enlargement.

18. I crossed into Canada at the crossing called Piegan on MT 89 which becomes Canada 2. It was an easy crossing. A young lady asked me a few questions. I used my passport as ID.
I took this photo, on Montana highway 89, of the mountains that are part of the range used by the Going to the Sun road which traverses Glacier National Park. The road starts near East Glacier, crosses Logan Pass then terminates near West Glacier. Click here or on the Google Earth map of Going To The Sun road to fly to Glacier National Park. 17. July 13 overnight in space 3 at the Sleeping Wolf Campground in Browning, MT. Only 10 spaces in this run down park but good 50 amp electric. There was no one in the park to take my $20 payment so I left a check on the steps of the home on the property. It was cashed. Native American Days were going on. There are lots of Native Americans in this Blackfoot Indian Reservation town. Click here to view the campground using Google Earth.

US Highway 2 crosses the Continental Divide at 5,280 feet about 30 miles west of Browning, MT. This, suitable as wallpaper, photo was taken from a rest stop on the Continental Divide. Rocky Mountains at the Continental Divide
16. July 6 for a week, space 34, Flathead River RV Park, Polson, MT. Click here to fly to the RV Park using Google Earth.
July 11th. On a trip around the west part of Flathead Lake I stumbled upon Lake Mary Ronan about 5 miles east of Hwy 93. In this quaint area, of mostly tumble down cabins, is a small, beautiful lake and resort. Click here to fly to the lake using Google Earth. Lake Mary Ronan
July 9th. The Kerr Dam, completed in 1938, provides flood control for the Flathead River. The power station, feed by the dam, produces electricity for the area. The dam is located 8 miles south of Polson. During the summer the dam keeps the level of Flathead Lake at a consistent level. Click here to fly to the lake using Google Earth.

In the photos: The dam; the Flathead River below the dam; Lloyd Turnage one of 3 dam operators. He answered my questions in a friendly manner.
